The opening track to Air’s score for Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides perfectly set the film’s dreamy, hazily nostalgic tone, with its sleepwalking beat, sighing vocals about “high school lovers,” provided by Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars, and loungy analog keys blooming into a wafting saxophone. Full of longing, it’s a lovesick reverie of a song.
