Canadian group Zeus has its roots as the backing band of Broken Social Scene’s Jason Collett, but their own material is less sensitive indie rock than classic rock ‘n’ roll—done deeply down-home, Southern-style in the case of “Are You Gonna Waste My Time?” The song piles squealing guitar riffs on top of a swinging rhythm section, shuddering guitar chords, choral vocals, honky tonk piano and even a cowbell break.
