Bluapple Giveaway

I had the opportunity to review the Bluapple

I found this very interesting that Ethylene gas is given off naturally by fruits and vegetables as a signaling mechanism in order to coordinate uniform ripening. However, once concentrated in your refrigerator or other storage areas, the presence of ethylene gas continues to speed up ripening and hasten spoilage so that is why I found the Bluapple fascinating and I had to try it. Do you know how much food my family has wasted due to it going bad. I am sure you do! I always have trouble with bananas seems they never stay ripe and turn brown quickly. I decided to do a little experiment with two slightly unripened bananas. I placed each banana in freezer Ziploc bag but only one banana contained the Bluapple. They stayed in the same room at the same temperature and both bags remained tightly closed. As you can see below I got a little picture happy. The bananas remained in the bags for 11 days. I cannot keep  ripe bananas for no longer that 4-6 days and by then they are extremely brown with spots and bruised on the inside and falling off my banana tree. It was extremely clear that the banana with the blue apple appeared much healthier looking while the one without the Bluapple did not. On the last day I had taken the bananas out of the bag and it was clearly noticeable that both bananas were extremely soft and had started molding . It may have been due to being confined in the bag. The Bluapple banana only started to mold  on the stem as the other was on the stem and everywhere else on the banana. I found my experiment quit fun and use both Bluapples as one is in the refrigerator and the other is in my fruit basket and I can see the difference it has made. Do not forget to enter the form below for your chance to win one of these Blueapple’s for your home.

How Does the BluApple Work?

Ethylene gas is given off naturally by fruits and vegetables as a signaling mechanism in order to coordinate uniform ripening. However, once concentrated in your refrigerator or other storage areas, the presence of ethylene gas continues to speed up ripening and hasten spoilage.

The BluApple is designed to provide effective ethylene gas absorption for three months in a typical home refrigerator produce bin or storage container. The active ingredient does not “wear out”, but continues to absorb ethylene until it has reached its capacity. A One Year Refill Kit rounds out the BluApple ethylene gas management product line, allowing consumers to reuse BluApples and not add them to landfills.

  1. Jennifer Johansen says

I occasionally have to toss overripe bananas or avocados, but I really want to win this for my mother. She has a bad habit of buying enough fresh fruits and vegetables for six people, even though it’s just her and dad in the house now. Too much of what she buys ends up in the compost because they just can’t eat it fast enough. Since I can’t convince her to simply buy less, a device that keeps food fresh longer should help!

  2. We really like our Bluapple. The only thing I truly need it on are the bananas. Everything else is eaten way to fast!
