THE MACCABEES
The Maccabees emerged in the mid-’00s amidst a wave of revivalist UK dance rock (Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, etc.) In the years since, the English quintet seem to have absorbed something of Arcade Fire’s epic indie rock emotionalism. Frontman Orlando Weeks has discovered a familiar if effective register of vocal whimper, and “Go” positively brims with rising guitars, thundering drums and a huge, sweeping chorus.
